WHY  SAVE  LIVES ? 

Hans Calmeyer was an impressive human being in many respects, but he was also imperfect and very human, fathering a child out of wedlock and having several affairs during a long-term loveless marriage to which he was otherwise sworn and dedicated for life.

The more important aspect was his reaction to pressure from his wife and “polite society” to abort the child, Michael. He steadfastly refused, and did all he could to get the pregnancy out of harm’s way. The child was ultimately born in Goslar, some 2 hours from Osnabrueck, and the child was raised by the mother with meager resources but full rights as a Calmeyer heir, which was initially a hard decision in an environment where such an event was quite a scandal.

Calmeyer was deeply for protection of innocent life.

Would Calmeyer have supported the unborn in the case of potential harm to the mother, as is the case in the article below? In the abortion dilemma below, both the mother and the child could have died:

Miami, Fla., Jun 15, 2010 / 07:17 am (CNA).- The story of Benny Abreu, a young woman from the Dominican Republic, has moved Floridians because of her testimony to motherly love. The Florida woman suffered from serious heart problems and preferred to die rather  than abort the baby she was carrying.

Abreu, 25, graduated from  Florida Central University at the beginning of May and decided to  continue with her pregnancy, knowing that her serious heart condition  could lead to complications.

According to Florida’s La Prensa  newspaper, she never considered the possibility of abortion and saw her  pregnancy as a blessing.

The doctor told her she had to abort if she wanted to survive, but she told him no, that she could not kill her baby and that she was going to continue with her pregnancy, said  Martha Motley, the baby's grandmother.

On May 17, Abreu gave  birth to her son but her condition worsened. She was transferred to  Shands Hospital in Gainesville, which specializes in cardiology, where  she died on May 30.

In India each year, it is estimated that as many as a million baby girls are aborted by parents determined not to raise a daughter. Those unborn girls are the victims of a fierce cultural preference for boys — and of modern imaging technology that makes it easy to learn the sex of a baby in the womb. Ultrasound scans started becoming widely available in India in the 1980s; since then, an estimated 10 million female babies have been destroyed during pregnancy.  Sex-selection tests are illegal in India. So are sex-selective abortions. But the laws are rarely enforced and easily circumvented.

• “Spend 500 rupees now and save 50,000 rupees later’’ — an allusion to the potentially crippling dowry that an Indian bride’s parents are expected to pay when their daughter gets married. Many couples have taken that deal. The result is an alarming shortage of young Indian women — and a growing population of young Indian men with little prospect of finding a wife.

India is typical of the non-Judeo-Christian world where only selective "preferred" life is sacred. Preferences can be cultural, religious, commercial/instrumental, statist, or otherwise "practical." From a Boston Globe Story 3-14-10: in a chilling cover story titled “The Worldwide War on Baby Girls," The Economist noted that in many parts of China, the ratio of boys to girls is now 124-to-100. These rates are biologically impossible without human intervention,’’ the magazine observed, and their consequences will be dire.

• “In any country,’’ says The Economist, “rootless young males spell trouble; in Asian societies, where marriage and children are the recognized routes into society, single men are almost like outlaws. Crime rates, bride trafficking, sexual violence, even female suicide rates are all rising and will rise further as the lopsided generations reach their maturity.’’
• The war against baby girls has spread to South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan, to the former Soviet republics of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, and even to Asian-American communities in the United States. And if you think that the antidote to this “gendercide’’ is modernization, better living standards, and more education, think again.
• “It is not the country’s poorest but its richest who are eliminating baby girls at the highest rate, regardless of religion or caste,’’ the Times of London reported in 2007. “Delhi’s leafiest suburbs have among the lowest ratio of girls to boys in India, while the two states with the absolute lowest ratio are those with the highest per-capita income: Punjab and Haryana.’’ Similarly in China, the higher a province’s literacy rate or income per head, the more skewed its sexual disparities.
• It is not material poverty that leads these cultures to blithely accept the killing of their very youngest girls. It is a poverty of values, an ancient prejudice that views daughters as a financial burden to be avoided, rather than a blessing to be cherished.

Exodus 21:22 If men strive [fight] and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit [fetus] depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.

One source comments that because some Bible translations (KJV, RSV) use the phrase "woman with child" that God considers a fetus to be a human child. But other translations render the phrase simply as "pregnant woman" and  make no direct reference to the fetus.

This verse describes a situation in which a man, who is fighting another man, accidentally hits a pregnant woman, and causes a termination of her pregnancy. The following verse, 23, explains that if the woman died, the guilty man would be executed by the state. The accidental killing of a woman under these circumstances was considered a capital offense,  because she was a human person.

Some liberal theologians reject this interpretation. They point out that this passage appears to have been derived from two earlier Pagan laws,  whose intent is quite clear:

Code of Hammurabi (209, 210) which reads: "If a seignior struck a[nother] seignior's daughter and has caused her to have a miscarriage [literally, caused her to drop that of her womb], he shall pay ten  shekels of silver for her fetus. If that woman had died, they shall put his daughter to death."

Hittite Laws, (1.17): "If anyone causes a free woman to miscarry [literally, drives out the embryo]-if (it is) the 10th  month, he shall give 10 shekels of silver, if (it is) the 5th month, he shall give 5 shekels of  silver..." The phrase "drives out the embryo" appears to relate to a  miscarriage rather than to a premature birth.

Author Brian McKinley, a born-again Christian, sums the passage up  with: "Thus we can see that if the baby is lost, it does not require a death sentence -- it is not considered murder. But if the woman is lost, it is considered murder and is  punished by death."

We should add to this discussion: the mere acceptance of Hammurabi and Hittite precedents does not by itself constitute proof that Jewish Law did not consider the fetus a legitimate human life, though it is clear that the tradition was to impose a financial penalty for the loss of an infant in the womb rather than any “proportional” death penalty in the case of adjudged murder. Here we have another case of a separation of “killing” and “murder” as well as a demonstration of the increasing value put on life as it matured within the womb and then outside of the womb.

There was thus from the start a Judeo-Christian value placed on the fetus, proportionate to the age of the fetus, not from birth, but from conception.

Abortion, Planned Parenthood & America’s Death Culture!

We already know that the right to kill our children or our  grandchildren is a sacred one among a thankfully decreasing number of  Americans. But, in fact, the rate of those who would consider themselves pro-choice is dropping rapidly. Science has improved by great strides  over the last couple of decades, proving that life begins at conception, and only those who hold more dearly to the right of personal  convenience over their personal human decency and conscience ignore that science; choosing instead to blindly overlook it and cling to old and  falsified information.

We’ve embraced a death culture in America. 4,000 dead babies, their mothers and yes, even their fathers, are being affected EVERY DAY by this self-consuming, narcissistic culture. The  same people who look back in history and revile the Germans for  slaughtering Jews, a race that they didn’t consider human either- will argue until they are blue in the face for the right to slaughter life  that is in the womb. These same people will strap themselves to a tree  to prevent it from being chopped down but will coldly support the right  to life to another person. Even people who don’t want their animals will typically give them away to another home, but our own precious and  defenseless babies don’t stand a chance here. To be so concerned with  these other issues, but ignore the defenseless and call yourself  pro-choice, is the definition of absurdity.

And the Mother of  this Death Culture is Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood has turned  into a profit driven industry that continues to be funded through  millions and millions of dollars of government grants and subsidies,  while making profits yearly in the hundreds of millions.

In fact, they’ve been recently caught red-handed again, this time in Indiana, by a pro-life group called Live Action. And it’s been caught on video.  Live Action is responsible for the release of at least eight undercover  investigation videos proving that Planned Parenthood repeatedly violated child statuary rape laws, parental consent laws, engaged in financial  fraud and other extreme abuses. Their latest undercover video was just  released which shows a nurse giving false information to a pregnant  girl’s questions.

VIDEO Live Action writes:

 Abortion is a lucrative business. What we see from Live Action’s  undercover videos time and time again is that the “counselors”€� never offer an alternative to these women. They’re confused, they’re scared,  they’re vulnerable, and Planned Parenthood takes advantage of them by  lying to them with manipulative and inaccurate information. Why? To make money. Planned Parenthood doesn’t get any money if the woman decides to keep the baby or give it up for adoption. In 2007, Planned Parenthood  performed 305,310 abortions¦ and only referred 4,912 adoptions.

 It’s all about the money for them. These counselors aren’t there to  help women during a time of crisis. They’re salespeople, out to make a  sale. Planned Parenthood makes millions of dollars off of abortions, on  top of the millions of taxpayer funding they already receive, and why  would they want to give that up?

By the way, those 305,310  abortions netted (the NON-profit and TAX EXEMPT) Planned Parenthood over $110 million dollars in PROFIT last year! It’s interesting that Live  Action used the term salespeoplâ€� when referencing the counselor  because while watching the video I could only think that it seemed like I was watching a used car salesman trying to say whatever necessary in  order to close the deal€� - almost as if a large sales commission was on  the line!

Planned Parenthood loves to tout that they are  pro-choice but how can you even call yourself pro-choice when you only offer one choice? They aren’t pro-choice! They are pro-abortion,  pro-profit and spend PR money out the kazoo to keep the public as  uninformed and as uneducated as possible about conception, life, science and their REAL choices.

It’s time for America to wake up to the  facts. This isn’t just about politics. This is about your personal level of human decency. Don’t go through life saying, Well, I wouldn’t do it personally but I can’t deny the right to someone else to have an  abortion. Why?

Can you name any other human rights issue that  you could say that about? Could you say that you personally oppose rape  but wouldn’t tell someone else that they couldn’t do it? Do you  personally oppose child abuse but wouldn’t dare tell anyone else that  they couldn’t do it? Do you personally oppose racism, robbery,  kidnapping, murder but wouldn’t tell someone else they couldn’t do it? Of course not- to all of the above! You have every right to not only  oppose abortion personally but to oppose it in others as well. But it  could take guts. Do you have any? Because contrary to popular belief, an abortion doesn’t make you unpregnant it just makes you the mother of a dead baby.
